Researched Based Lesson Plan

During one of my assignments as a doctoral candidate, I was given the task of augmenting an existing curriculum. I chose to integrate the six C's of motivation, which are choice, challenge, control, collaboration, constructing meaning, and consequences, into an Illustrative Mathematics unit. Illustrative Mathematics units can be challenging for some learners due to the design and structure. The six C's can help to provide learners autonomy, assess the degree of difficultly, increase collaboration, and to help them form meaningful connections with the material.
